SECTION 84.101. Purpose and Scope

(a) Purpose. The purpose of this chapter is to assist in the administration and enforcement of Texas Finance Code, Chapter 348. (b) Scope. This chapter applies to: (1) all persons engaged in the business of selling motor vehicles to retail buyers in transactions in which a retail buyer purchases a motor vehicle from a retail seller and agrees with the retail seller to pay part or all of the cash price in one or more deferred installments; and (2) all persons that acquire or otherwise receive retail installment sales contracts unless specifically exempted from licensing by Texas Finance Code, Chapter 348.
