The following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
(1) Commercial possession--The possession of a controlled exotic snake for the purpose of sale. (2) Controlled exotic snake--Any live snake that is: (A) a venomous snake not indigenous to Texas; (B) any of the following: (i) African rock python (Python sebae); (ii) Asiatic rock python, (Python molurus); (iii) Burmese python (Python bivittatus); (iv) green anaconda, (Eunectes murinus); (v) reticulated python, (Python reticulatus); (vi) southern African python, (Python natalensis); or (C) a hybrid of any species listed in this paragraph. (3) Possession--Actual care, custody, or control. (4) Recreational possession--The possession or transportation of a controlled exotic snake for any purpose other than sale. (5) Sale--The transfer of ownership or the right of possession or the offer to transfer ownership or the right of possession of a controlled exotic snake to a person for a monetary consideration.
