SECTION 5.7007. Renewal of Policies

(a) A policy must be renewed at expiration, at the option of the policyholder, unless the company has mailed written notice to the policyholder of its intention to decline renewal at least 30 days in advance of the policy expiration date. The company may comply with this provision by requiring or permitting its agent to notify the policyholder. However, the responsibility of giving notice to the insured remains with the company if the agent fails to carry out its instructions to notify the insured. (b) A company may not decline to renew personal automobile policies because of the ages of the insureds.
