SECTION 218.50. Purpose and Scope

This subchapter sets forth the department's policies and procedures to protect shippers of household goods against deceptive or unfair practices and unreasonably hazardous activities on the part of a household goods carrier. This subchapter also provides a mediation process administered by the department for claims on household goods shipments. Shipments of household goods transported subject to a United States Government Bill of Lading or to a written agreement with the United States Department of Defense are exempt from §§218.53 - 218.62 of this subchapter.
