SECTION 217.33. Commercial Farm Motor Vehicles, Farm Trailers, and Farm Semitrailers

(a) An applicant must provide a properly completed application for farm plates. Except as provided by subsection (d) of this section, the application must be accompanied by proof of the applicant's Texas Agriculture or Timber Exemption Registration Number issued by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Proof of the registration number must be: (1) legible; (2) current; and (3) in the name of the person or dba in which the vehicle is or will be registered, pursuant to Transportation Code, §502.146 and §502.433. (b) A registration renewal of farm plates must be accompanied by proof of the applicant's Texas Agriculture or Timber Exemption Registration Number issued by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. (c) In accordance with Transportation Code, §502.146 and §502.433, an applicant's Texas Agriculture or Timber Exemption Registration Number may be verified through the online system established by the Comptroller. (d) A farmers' cooperative society incorporated under Agriculture Code, Chapter 51, or a marketing association organized under Agriculture Code, Chapter 52 applying for or renewing the registration of farm plates under this section is not required to submit proof of the applicant's Texas Agriculture or Timber Exemption Registration issued by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.
