SECTION 700.1804. What monetary assistance, goods, and services may be provided to support Family Empowerment?

(a) The Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) may provide a maximum of $3,000 in Family Empowerment benefits to an eligible family, which may include goods, services, and monetary assistance in the sum of $250 or less. (b) Monetary assistance, goods, and services provided as Family Empowerment are for a family's basic needs and must be: (1) authorized and provided within the first four months of the case and may not be extended; (2) designed to deal with a specific crisis or episode of need; and (3) for non-recurrent, short-term benefits, but not for ongoing needs.
