SECTION 4.501. Purpose

The purpose of this subchapter is to require a mental retardation authority (MRA) or a community center to:
(1) have an effective procedure for conducting criminal history and registry checks on an applicant, employee, contractor, or volunteer of the MRA or community center; (2) have an effective procedure for requiring an employee, contractor, or volunteer of the MRA or community center to self-report a conviction or charge of a criminal offense or a registry listing; and (3) require a contract agency to conduct criminal history and registry checks on an applicant, employee, contractor, or volunteer of the contractor agency in accordance with this subchapter.
