SECTION 259.425. Infirmary

An infirmary should be provided for systems of 200 or more capacity and shall provide the following minimum components:
(1) nurses station; (2) locked medication station with storage for individually filled prescriptions; (3) utility room with sink and storage for linens and equipment; (4) refrigerated storage; (5) utility room with double tub sink and clinical service sink with flushing rim; (6) 80 gross square feet of floor space per bed; (7) at least 1 single occupancy, negative pressure cell; (8) doors, through which patients and equipment are to be moved, of adequate width to allow turning of wheeled chairs and tables normally used in medical facilities; (9) a lavatory with a gooseneck inlet and wrist controls accessible to each ward; (10) janitor closet; (11) toilet, lavatory, and shower for use of inmates in the infirmary; (12) additional elements as dictated by the facility health care director.
