SECTION 221.23. Academic Recognition Award

(a) To qualify, an applicant for an academic recognition award must meet all proficiency requirements including: (1) at least two years experience as either a peace officer, reserve, jailer, or a telecommunicator; and (2) graduation from an accredited college or university with at least an associate's degree. (b) The award consists of a certificate and a uniform ribbon, pin, or other insignia. (c) The commissioning agency retains authority to permit the wearing and placement of the ribbon, pin, or other insignia. (d) The effective date of this section is March 1, 2008.
