SECTION 55.503. Disposition of Live Animals

(a) A game warden, or other authorized Department employee, or a licensed veterinarian acting under the direction of a game warden, may euthanize a dangerous wild animal to eliminate its suffering due to illness or injury, or if the Department is unable to locate a suitable place for the animal under subsection (b) of this section. (b) If a person is convicted of a violation of Chapter 62, Subchapter F, Parks and Wildlife Code, the dangerous wild animal may be transferred to a sanctuary, or to a person with a permit that allows for possession of the animal. (c) If no person is convicted of a violation of Chapter 62, Subchapter F, Parks and Wildlife Code, the dangerous wild animal shall be disposed of according to the instructions of the court.
