SECTION 336.1213. Additional Environmental Requirements

An application for a license for a processing or storage facility must include environmental information that may be based on reconnaissance level information when appropriate and addresses the following:
(1) description of present land uses and population distribution in the vicinity of the site: (A) for radioactive substances storage facilities, the description must address properties adjacent to the site; and (B) for radioactive substances processing facilities, the description must address properties adjacent to the site and shall include population distribution within a one-mile radius of the site; (2) area/site suitability including geology, hydrology, and natural hazards. For radioactive substances processing facilities, area meteorology also must be addressed; (3) site and project alternatives including alternative siting analysis; (4) socioeconomic effects on surrounding communities of operation of the licensed activity and of associated transportation of radioactive material; and (5) environmental effects of postulated accidents.
