(a) Air pollution control. All emission sources resulting from the operation of medical waste facilities shall be abated in a manner that will not cause a condition of air pollution. Owner or operator shall obtain authorization that may be required by local, state and federal agencies. (b) Water pollution control. All liquids resulting from the operation of medical waste facilities shall be disposed of in a manner that will not cause surface water or groundwater pollution. Owner or operator shall provide for the treatment of wastewaters resulting from medical waste management activities and from cleaning and washing. Owners or operators shall ensure that storm water and wastewater management is in compliance with the regulations of the commission. (c) It is also the responsibility of an owner or operator of a facility to obtain any other permits or approvals that may be required by local, state and federal agencies.
