(a) State employees whose duties include service as notaries shall serve without bond and shall not submit a notary bond or notary bond filing fee with their notary applications. Notaries without bond shall otherwise meet the general requirements of Government Code, Chapter 406, including but not limited to, maintaining a notary record book and taking the official oath. (b) This subchapter shall be applicable only to a state department, commission, board, institution, court, or institution of higher education or soil conservation district of the state.
