SECTION 749.1819. What are the specific requirements for feeding an infant?

(a) Caregivers must feed an infant based on the recommendations of the infant’s health-care professional. (b) Unless recommendations from the service team are contrary, caregivers must hold the infant while feeding an infant that is: (1) Birth through six months old; or (2) Unable to sit unassisted in a high chair or other seating equipment during feeding. (c) Caregivers must never prop a bottle by supporting it with anything other than the infant's or adult’s hand. (d) A caregiver who cares for more than one infant must: (1) Sterilize shared bottles or training cups between uses by different infants; and (2) Clean high chair trays before each use.
