SECTION 748.1709. What are the requirements for using a nasogastric tube to feed a child?

(a) Only the following may insert a nasogastric tube: (1) A physician; or (2) A registered nurse according to a physician's written orders. (b) You must document each insertion in the child's record. The documentation for each insertion must include the: (1) Signature of the nurse who inserted the tube; and (2) Date of the insertion. (c) You must follow the physician's written orders concerning the tube.
