SECTION 748.1481. To whom may I release a child?

(a) Except in an emergency, you must only release a child to the child's parent, a person designated by the parent, law enforcement authorities, or a person authorized by law to take possession of the child. (b) You must instruct all employees and service providers to follow your policies for: (1) Releasing a child; (2) Verifying the identity of a person authorized to pick up a child but whom the caregiver does not know; (3) Recording the identity of the person in a log or other designated location; and (4) Retaining the identifying information at the operation until the child returns.
