SECTION 554.2701. Purpose

The purpose of this subchapter is to:
(1) describe the requirements of a nursing facility related to preadmission screening and resident review (PASRR), which is a federal requirement in Code of Federal Regulations, Title 42, Part 483, Subpart C to ensure that: (A) an individual seeking admission to a nursing facility or a resident of a nursing facility receives a PASRR Level I screening (PL1) to identify whether the individual or resident is suspected of having mental illness (MI), an intellectual disability (ID), or a developmental disability (DD); and (B) an individual or resident suspected of having MI, ID, or DD receives a PASRR Level II evaluation (PE) to confirm MI, ID, or DD and, if confirmed, to evaluate whether the individual or resident needs nursing facility care and specialized services; (2) describe the requirements of a nursing facility related to a designated resident who receives service planning and transition planning; and (3) describe the requirements of a nursing facility related to nursing facility specialized services.
