SECTION 301.359. Telemedicine Services

The LMHA, MCO, and provider must ensure that if a provider uses telemedicine, it is implemented in accordance with written procedures and using a protocol approved by the LMHA's or MCO's medical director. Procedures regarding the provision of telemedicine service must include the following requirements:
(1) clinical oversight by the LMHA's or MCO's medical director or designated physician responsible for medical leadership; (2) contraindications for telemedicine use; (3) qualified people to ensure the safety of the individual being served by telemedicine at the remote site; and (4) use by credentialed or licensed providers who provide clinical care within the scope of their credential or license.
