SECTION 137.38. Disposition of Medical Waste

A center shall meet requirements set forth by the department in §§1.131 - 1.137 of this title (relating to Definition, Treatment, and Disposition of Special Waste from Health Care-Related Facilities).
(1) All special waste including blood, body fluids, placentas, sharps and biological indicators, shall be disposed of in accordance with §§1.131 - 1.137 of this title. (2) Placentas shall not be placed in the trash or dumpster for disposal. (3) A center may give the placenta to the client at the time of discharge upon request by the client.
