SECTION 1.22. Registration by Reciprocal Transfer

(a) A person may apply for architectural registration by reciprocal transfer if the person holds an architectural registration that is active and in good standing in another jurisdiction and the other jurisdiction: (1) has licensing or registration requirements substantially equivalent to Texas registration requirements; or (2) has entered into a reciprocity agreement with the Board that has been approved by the Governor of Texas. (b) In order to obtain architectural registration by reciprocal transfer, an Applicant must demonstrate the following: (1) the Applicant has: (A) successfully completed the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) or another architectural registration examination which the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) has approved as conforming to NCARB's examination standards; and (B) successfully completed the requirements of the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) or acquired at least three years of acceptable architectural experience following registration in another jurisdiction; or (2) the Applicant has been given Council Certification by NCARB and such Council Certification is not currently in an expired or revoked status. (c) An Applicant for architectural registration by reciprocal transfer must remit the required registration fee to the Board within 60 days after the date of the tentative approval letter sent to the Applicant by the Board.
