SECTION 6.6. Review of Family Practice Residency Grant Applications

Applications for Family Practice Residency Grants shall be reviewed by the Family Practice Residency Advisory Committee, established by Board rules, Chapter 1, Subchapter I, §§1.142 - 1.148 of this title (relating to Family Practice Residency Advisory Committee), for their viability and their benefit to the state. Family Residency Programs must serve the needs of the State of Texas in improving the distribution of health care delivery. The Advisory Committee's review shall include the following:
(1) The ability of the program to meet the requirements set out in this Subchapter and all program guidelines; (2) Existing and anticipated costs and funding for currently funded programs and new programs requesting funding; (3) The program's performance in: (A) improving the distribution of family physicians throughout the state; and (B) providing care to medically underserved areas of Texas; and (C) encouraging residents to practice in underserved rural and inner-city areas of the state.
