Medical schools, licensed hospitals, or nonprofit corporations that sponsor a nationally accredited Family Practice Residency Program may apply for one or more of the following grants: Family Practice Residency Operational Grant, Support Grant, Rural Rotations Reimbursement Grant, and Public Health Rotation Reimbursement Grant.
(1) A Family Practice Residency Operational Grant is an annual, renewable grant to support the educational activities of fully accredited family practice residency programs. (2) A Support Grant is an annual, renewable grant to support an ongoing statewide program to encourage research and leadership development of faculty of Texas family practice residency programs. (3) A Rural Rotations Reimbursement Grant is a grant to reimburse program costs, recognize participation, and encourage rural practice location for resident physicians in training at nationally accredited Texas family practice residency programs. Funding is provided to offset costs associated with residents completing an optional one-month rotation in a rural setting in Texas. (4) A Public Health Rotation Reimbursement Grant is a grant to reimburse program costs, recognize participation, and encourage future public health commitments for residents in training at nationally recognized Texas family practice residency programs. Funding is provided to offset costs associated with residents completing an optional one-month rotation in a public health setting in Texas.
