SECTION 5.113. Definitions

The following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
(1) Board or Coordinating Board--The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. (2) Commissioner--The Commissioner of Higher Education. (3) Eligible Institution or Institution--A Texas institution of higher education as defined in Texas Education Code, §61.003, that either the State Board for Educator Certification approved teacher preparation program, or is affiliated with a teacher preparation program approved by the Coordinating Board. (4) Eligible Teacher--An experienced teacher that meets the requirements set forth under Texas Education Code, §21.462 (d), and meets other requirements determined by the Commissioner. (5) State Board for Educator Certification or SBEC--The entity with authority to oversee all aspects of the preparation, certification, and standards of conduct of Texas public school educators. (6) Mathematics, Science, and Technology Teacher Preparation Academy or Academy--A program approved by the Coordinating Board to be offered at select institutions of higher education to improve the instructional skills of teachers certified under Texas Education Code, Chapter 21, Subchapter B, and train students enrolled in teacher preparation programs to perform at the highest levels in mathematics, science, and technology.
