(a) Authority. Authority for this subchapter is provided in the Texas Education Code, Subchapter KK, Math and Science Scholars Loan Repayment Program. These rules establish procedures to administer the subchapter as prescribed in the Texas Education Code, §§61.9831 - 61.9841. (b) Purpose. The purpose of the Math and Science Scholars Loan Repayment Program is to encourage teachers, who demonstrated high academic achievement as math or science majors, to teach math or science in Texas public schools for eight years, the first four of which are at Title I schools.
