SECTION 22.570. Authority, Scope, and Purpose

(a) Authority. Authority for this subchapter is provided in the Texas Education Code, §§61.9791 - 61.9795, Texas Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (T-STEM) Challenge Scholarship Program. These rules establish procedures to administer this grant program to award scholarships through the community colleges. (b) Scope. Unless otherwise noted, this subchapter applies to any Texas public junior, community, or technical college, as defined in Texas Education Code §61.003(2) and §61.003(7). (c) Purpose. The purpose of this program is to provide grants to eligible Texas higher education institutions to provide funds to support scholarships to qualifying, high achieving students enrolled in courses or degree programs leading to careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related fields and to provide administrative funds to support the program.
