SECTION 119.10. Advisory Committee

(a) The commission may establish an advisory committee to provide advice and recommendations to the department on technical matters relevant to the administration of this chapter. The name of the advisory committee shall be the Registered Sanitarian Advisory Committee. (b) The advisory committee is subject to the Government Code, Chapter 2110, concerning state agency advisory boards. (c) The advisory committee shall be composed of nine members appointed by the presiding officer of the commission. The composition of the committee shall include: (1) five registered sanitarians; (2) one professional engineer, or one on-site sewage facility (OSSF) professional who is not and has never been registered as a sanitarian in Texas; (3) two consumers, one of which must be a member of an industry or occupation which is regulated either by a city or county environmental health unit or department or equivalent, or by the Department of State Health Services; and (4) one person involved in education in the field of public, consumer, or environmental health sciences.
